Things have been busy at Blue Pine the last couple of weeks.
Among them, a noteworthy silver maple and leaning hackberry by the lake.
Some removals, lots of pruning, lots of training.
Give a warm welcome to our newest addition to the team, Henry!
He comes from a diverse experience background, with solid skills in tree climbing and tree care. He's working towards earning his ISA, and is a qualified line clearance trimmer. His solid skills and growth potential are a great compliment to the team, and we're excited to see how he grows!
This week he rocked out some clearance pruning on a silver maple, and a huge, hollow, nasty rotten Basswood with no qualms. David has been instrumental in bringing him into the fold, so a huge shout-out to David for making him feel welcomed and helping us grow and thrive.

David has been making messes at the Blue Pine Property on training days. Here he is pruning out the deadwood on some red oaks.
Oak Wilt season is fast approaching. With temps at the highs we've been seeing checking the oak wilt vector model daily will be critical.

Finally, a project with some decent photos.
On this day we removed a large tri stem birch that was in decline, cabled and braced a split red oak, and pruned some apple trees for orchard use!
Cleaned, chipped, done. We'll be back this spring for some plant health care!

The oak wilt window is quickly approaching here in Minnesota. It is best not to cut on oaks between April and July in Minnesota. Oak wilt can be introduced to the tree through the fresh wounds.
Once one tree is impacted, oak wilt can spread to neighboring trees through the root system that is often grafted together with neighboring oaks.
So do a quick search and figure out what the oak wilt window is for your state. It’s best to save your oak cutting/pruning projects for the dormant season.
